NCAA Football 2006
Release day, a great day for college football and video games fans. I am on my second copy today and I still can't get it to play on my XBOX, I hate this platform, I should have stuck with PS2. I can only imagine how great the game is. In the spirit of Dynasty Mode, here are 2005's surprise teams.
1. Alabama- The Crimson Tide are loaded on defense. Senior QB Brodie Croyle should have a Heisman type year and the schedule is favorable by SEC standards. Expect nine wins and a shot at the BCS if they can win at Auburn.
2. Texas A&M- If the Aggies survive Death Valley, it all comes down to at Oklahoma and Texas at home for a chance at the BCS. Nine or ten wins for Coach Franchione.
3. Penn State- Want a sleeper in the Big Ten? Forget Purdue and watch out for the Nittany Lions. Expect a 5-0 start and at least eight wins.
4. Texas Tech- If the Aggies fall short of my expectations, it is because the Red Raiders exceeding mine. Eight wins is the minimum, but don't be surprise by ten wins and a Fiesta Bowl berth.
5. N.C. State- Expectations were high in Raleigh the last couple of years, but not this year. If the Wolfpack can win two out of the four road games, Coach Amato will be playing for his first ACC title.
6. California- I am a big believer in Jeff Tedford. Outside of USC the Pac 10 is average, there are good teams, but not great ones. I expect Cal to have tough time at Washington early in the season, but nine wins should be expected with such an easy schedule.
7. Washington- Yes, the one win Huskies. See above, if UW can pull off the Cal upset, expect a 4-0 start. Either way the Huskies should win at least six games,
8. West Virginia- The Mountaineers will have a rough start early, but eight wins and a share of the Big East title is possible.
9. Rutgers- The Scarlet Knights are going to peak at the right time. A weak Big East, a favorable schedule, and 17 returning starters equals at the very least seven wins. Don't be surprised if Rutgers is 9-0 when they play Louisville Nov 11 for a chance at the Big East title.
10. South Carolina- The Ol' Ball Coach has his work cut out. I expect seven wins and some big upsets for the Gamecocks.
