Defense Dominates Bulldog's First Scrimmage

Fresno State's first scrimmage was held yesterday in Bulldog Stadium. In just the seventh practice of the season, the run defense has seems to have caught up to the run offense. In the spring the offense had its way with the defense on the ground. A big concern for the 'Dogs this year is the run defense. Last year with four veteran starters, three of which were seniors, the run defense was disappointing, especially in the 28-21 loss to Louisiana Tech. Only Garret McIntyre returns this year from the starters up front, and run stopping safety James Sanders left early for the NFL. All-WAC cornerback Richard Marshall, looked great in run support. Already the best pass defender in the WAC, Marshall is showing that he is ready to be the leader of one the best defensive backfields on the West Coast.
